Gloucester

A suburb of and inside the City of Ottawa

Gloucester Township was set up in 1792 and initially included grounds east of the Rideau River from the Ottawa River south to Manotick. It was joined as a township in 1850 and turned into a city in 1981. Gloucester was one of the 11 regions that converged in 2001 to frame the new city of Ottawa. As of the Canada 2016 Census, the previous city of Gloucester had a populace of 133,280.
